If you don't have plans, you feel an expectation to find them ASAP, or else risk being stuck home alone or on the couch with your parents. (Not that that's always bad, but you know what I mean!)
Both single this year, my roomie and I decided we'd be spending NYE together, but we weren't sure what we should do. She went out of town for Christmas, I went home, and before we knew it, it was December 30 and we hadn't made any plans.
Solution?
Host our own New Year's Eve party! No need to get all dressed up and spend lots of money going out, or try to drive home avoiding everyone who rang in the new year a little too hard.
As expected with such a last-minute shindig, a lot of people already had plans, but honestly, we couldn't have been happier with the entire evening. Just 7 of us, all good friends, reunited for the first time in literally years- one person was in town from LA, another from London! I'm all for having a big party, but instead of breaking off into little groups, we all hung out together, laughing, snacking, and toasting a new year in our lives.
Cute friends. and it's officially Morg & Zach's wedding year! |
Even Jenna's new keyboard got some good use And a little bit of Superman! |
Yes, I look creepy. I liked to stay out of camera and then pop up in the corner occasionally. Shawn started imitating it. |
Afterward, the roomie and I high-fived for another successful party, last-minute and all.
Party planners. Moving in with her = one of the best parts of 2012! |
However, if next year I happen to have a cute boyfriend to kiss at midnight, I wouldn't be opposed. ; )
Happy 2013 to all!
There's nothing better than getting to hang out with friends you haven't seen in a while. Happy New Year :)
