Day 4- Favorite Book

I love reading, even though I don't do it nearly often enough these days. My goal is to change that soon, because there's nothing better than getting lost in a good story and not wanting to put it down. I loved the book "The Five People You Meet in Heaven," but until recently, it was the only Mitch Albom book I have read. Then a good friend recommended "Tuesdays with Morrie," so I borrowed it and absolutely loved it. Few books make me cry, but this one did (in a good way). It's a short book and can easily be read in a day, but I took my time with it. It's one of those books that gives you a whole new perspective and makes you realize exactly what matters in life. You laugh, you think, you ask questions, you cry. It's amazing. There are so many bits of wisdom and amazing quotes in it that I love, but here is my favorite:

"So many people walk around with a meaningless life. They seem half-asleep, even when they're busy doing things they think are important. This is because they're chasing the wrong things. The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning." -- Tuedays with Morrie

If you haven't read this book, go grab a copy!

Day 3- Favorite TV Program

I hardly ever watch TV anymore. There isn't a single show that I watch consistently every week. I used to have certain shows that I loved, and now I like to watch re-runs of older shows. I'm convinced that a lot of TV shows these days just aren't very good... and a lot of the reality shows are complete garbage. When I do tune in, I like things like 19 Kids & Counting, Kate Plus 8, Glee on occasion, and old re-runs of Sex and the City, ER, CSI, etc. I also loved the show American Dreams back when it was on.

I was too young to watch Sex & the City back when it was on TV for regular seasons, but two summers ago, my friend Marissa introduced me to it. I got hooked. We watched every episode during the summer of 2008, and I have seen both of the movies. I would definitely say that it is my favorite TV show, even if it's not on now. It's funny, easy to relate to (most of the time), interesting, full of fashion, and just fun.

I am definitely most like the character Charlotte. Not in looks, but definitely personality. Seriously, if you don't watch the show, read a little bit about her and you'll probably agree!

“Later that day I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you can find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous.” -- Sex and the City

Day 2- Favorite Movie

I think my favorite movie has to be The Notebook. I watched it in theatres when it first came out, and even though I was only 16, I remember thinking that the kind of love the characters had in it was the kind I hoped to have. They had their struggles, of course, but they had such a passion for each other. They built a life together and grew old together, and in the end they died together, still very much in love despite the circumstances. By the way, Ashley, if you're reading this- we still need to watch this movie!!! I can't believe you haven't seen it. So, I think a Pink! fam activity should be making Dirt Cups and watching The Notebook : )

My favorite quote from The Notebook:

"The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds. And that's what you've given me. That's what I'd hoped to give you forever."

P.S. I have always wanted to have a really passionate kiss in the pouring rain. Alex & I have kissed in the rain, kind of, but only when it was drizzling a little. I'll add it to my bucket list. I also want to kiss in the snow! : )
